Who runs this app
Days Out NI is run as a small independent project, not a company. If you have a question or want anything removed, email hello@aeonreon.com and we'll usually reply within a few days.
What we collect — and what we don't
If you just browse the app
Nothing personal. No account, no tracking. The events feed is the same for everyone in Northern Ireland.
Things stored on your device only
These never leave your phone or laptop. They live in your browser's local storage:
- Your saved events and saved places
- Your home town and "Near me" radius
- Filter preferences (family-friendly toggle, free-only toggle, category chips)
If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, this information is gone. We have no copy.
If you submit a photo of a poster
When you tap the + button and upload a poster image:
- The image is sent to our server and stored, so the event details can be extracted and shown in the feed.
- Your IP address is logged briefly so we can enforce a spam limit of five uploads per device per day. The IP is not used to identify you, sold, or shared.
- The image goes through an automated content check before publishing. If it's borderline, a human reviews it before it goes live.
If you'd like your submission removed, email hello@aeonreon.com with a description and we'll take it down.
If you sign up for the weekly digest
You give us:
- Your email address — only used to send the digest.
- Optionally, a home town and radius — used to personalise which events go in your email.
Every digest email has a one-tap unsubscribe link. Tapping it deletes your subscription on the spot.
Server logs
Our server keeps short-term logs of requests (URL, time, IP, browser type) for the usual reasons — fixing bugs and stopping abuse. We keep these for around thirty days, then delete them.
What we don't do
- No advertising trackers. No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data with anyone.
- No third-party social-media SDKs embedded in the app.
- No location tracking. We never ask for your GPS.
- No profiling, no automated decisions about you.
Third-party services we do touch
- Open-Meteo — a free, no-key weather API. We ask it for the forecast at the home town you set in the app. No personal information is sent.
- Map tiles — served from our own infrastructure using open-source Protomaps data, so the map doesn't load anything from Google or Mapbox.
- Cloudflare — sits in front of our server. It sees standard request information (IP, browser) the same way any web host would. Their privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Children
Days Out NI is designed for families to find things to do together. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has uploaded something or subscribed, please email hello@aeonreon.com and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to take a copy. Since we collect very little, most requests will be quick. Email hello@aeonreon.com and we'll respond within thirty days.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change what we collect, we'll update this page with a new date at the top. For meaningful changes — like adding a new collection point — we'll also flag it inside the app.
